Prof. Dr. Paulo Cezar Vieira has just been elected President Emeritus of FLAQ at the General Assembly of the Latin American Chemical Federation (FLAQ), held on 10/10/2018, during the 33rd Latin American Chemistry Congress (CLAQ) in Havana, Cuba.
This honor was conferred on Prof. Vieira, affectionately known in our society as PC, due to the long journey of services rendered to it.
The first contacts with FLAQ, aiming the insertion of the SBQ in its management processes, took place in the year of 2002 in company of Prof. Jailson B. de Andrade. On this occasion, Brazil was chosen to host the 2004 CLAQ congress. In 2004, as Chairman of SBQ, PC and the members of the SBQ Board (directors and council) organized our annual meeting together with CLAQ. During this period, he assumed the presidency of FLAQ for a period of two years. Since the end of his term as President, he has held the position of FLAQ counselor, having served for more than 12 consecutive years. Therefore, the honor was a well-deserved recognition of his great dedication with the Latin American Federation of Chemistry.
