Post-Doctorate in Medicinal Chemistry in CIBFar

Agência FAPESP – The Department of Physics and Interdisciplinary Science of Physics Institute of São Carlos, University of São Paulo (USP), offers an opportunity for Postdoctoral Fellow in Medicinal Chemistry with FAPESP grant.

The registration period ends on 10 October 2016.

The grantee will integrate a project aimed at experimental and computational research antiparasitic and pharmacokinetic properties of synthetic compounds for the treatment of Chagas and Leishmaniasis disease.

The scholarship holder, who could be Brazilian or foreign, will join the team of researchers in Medicinal Chemistry and  Drug Planning of Center for Research and Innovation in Biodiversity and Drug Discovery (CIBFar), one of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (CEPIDs) supported by FAPESP.

The selected candidate will work in the biological and computational research of antiparasitic compounds from national and international partnerships of CIBFar in particular with the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), under the Lead Optimization Latin America Consortium. Founded in 2003 to meet the needs of patients suffering from the most neglected diseases, DNDi is a research organization and development of non-profit drug and directed by the needs of patients.

Applicants must have a PhD obtained title for a maximum of seven years in the country or abroad, and expertise in parasitology, parasite biology, medicinal chemistry and / or in vitro pharmacokinetics, and fluency in English and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams. Direct experience in conducting in vitro assays kinetoplastids will be considered an additional one.

The selected person will receive FAPESP Postdoctoral grant in the amount of R$ 6,819.30 monthly and Technical Reserve. The Technical Reserve PD grant equivalent to 15% of the annual amount of the scholarship and is intended to take care of the unexpected expenses and directly related to the research activity.

If the grantee resides in different home and need to move to the city where is the institution-based research, it may be entitled to an aid-installation consisting of an additional fee and transport costs, when displacement distance above 350 km. This benefit must be approved by FAPESP.
