Seminar: Human Health and Challenges of New Drugs

The fantastic development of research and drug development in recent decades has been accompanied by significant scientific and technological advances that led to the discovery of drugs with various therapeutic applications, helping to improve the quality and life expectancy of the world-wide population.

Despite the progress achieved, there are numerous challenges ahead. The use of Medicinal Chemistry methods of drug design based on receptor structure (SBDD – structure-based drug design) and the ligand (LBDD – ligand-based drug design) has become increasingly important in identifying , planning and optimization of compounds with biological activity.

A critical approach to the use of various experimental and computational strategies will be presented, with emphasis on the planning of new drug candidates for neglected tropical diseases and cancer.
