Conference with the director of NIH – genomic, advanced technology and the future of the medicine

Conference organized by FAPESP – São Paulo Research Foundation, brings the director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Francis S. Collins, to argue questions as genomic, advanced technologies and the future of medicine.

Dr. Collins is physician-geneticist known for its discoveries of genes associates of diseases and for its international leadership in the human genome project. He served as director of National Human Genome Research Institute of the NIH, from 1993 to 2008.

Before going to NIH, Dr. Collins was researcher of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute of the University of Michigan. He is member of the Institute of Medicine and of the National Academy of Sciences, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of the Freedom in November of 2007 and received the National Medal from Science in 2009.
